Individuals all over the world have inherent rights as human beings that entitle them to equality without discrimination. Immigrants, refugees, children and women are some of the members of the marginalized groups that are prone to multiple accounts of discrimination, abuse and injustices that may cause psychological and physical damage.
To this effect therefore, groups and members have long since been founded in a move to promote, protect and project civil, human and immigrants’ rights. These groups play a vital role in driving national, regional and international innitiatives designed to defend these rights. These groups include:
The Larkin and Lacey Frontera Fund
It is among the top organizations that promote civil, human and migrants’ rights as well as freedom of expression in the US. This was a court settlement fund that Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin, the co-founders of Phoenix New Times and Village Media, dedicated to supporting their organization and other groups with similar course.
The $3.75 million resulted from Michael and Jim’s unfair arrest by a sheriff for revealing compelling information to the public. The co-founders decided to take a legal action for unfair arrest and won their case. Some of the groups supported by Larkin and Lacey Frontera Fund include:

The Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights (CHILRA)
This group was formed in 1986 to protect the rights of individual and immigrant families’ in California. The organization was formed as a result of Immigration Reform and Control Act, which discouraged businesses from employing individuals without legal documents. It is an avid supporter of immigrant individuals and families. It acts as the driving force that strives to realize the right of free mobility, human rights adherence and participation in democracy. Its main agenda is to ensure societal inclusion for all.
Advocates for Human Rights
They are at the forefront in the fight for human right in the world. They champion for change at local, regional or global level. The group facilitates volunteers, partners and staff to implement standards of human rights while strengthening the rule of law.
ACLU Immigrants’ Rights Project
They set out to protect civil, human and immigrant rights through advocacy, outreach and litigation programs. These programs are upheld by the supreme and district courts. Established in 1985, the organization has expressed total dedication to expanding and enforcing civil rights and liberties for immigrants.
International Migrant’s Rights Advocacy
Migrants Rights International is a global network of migrant rights organizations set to strengthen the voice and role of migrants in the international arena. Its roles include organizing delegations and helping to organize civil society intervention in a move to empower immigrants.
The Amazon Watch
Amazon watch group is based in San Francisco. It is mandated to work with environmental organizations and indigenous groups towards advancement of people’s rights following large scale development projects like oil, that have the potential to cause environmental hazards.
